9x17 Mother's Little Helper
God bless Misha’s directing
demon!Dean x demon!fem!Dean
Frozen in time yearning forbidden wishes.
Damned and divine.
Scars of my broken kisses.
What will follow if tomorrow’s blind?
My eternal night.
As the wind takes me away from you before the morning light.
My sins are fading into view, I’m so weary deep inside.
Feel the shadow of my oblivion, hoping mercy would show her face,
On the road to your own perdition I may see you again.
N° 9 in the Series "Favourite SPN Shots"
2x19 "Folsom Prison Blues"
"When I was just a baby my mama told me, son
Always be a good boy, don’t ever play with guns
But I shot a man in Reno just to watch him die
When I hear that whistle blowing, I hang my head and cry”
I actually want to keep this series plain and without any meta or text attached (though I tend to do that in tags then. ;P), but in this case I might need to make an exception, because re-watching this episode from S2 reveals so much about Dean as a person and - like so often - it is quite heartbreaking. Especially Dean’s conversations with Tiny are very telling. [[Anybody who only wants the gifs on their page, feel free to hide this whole paragraph under a read more]]
Especially the one in which Dean goes up to Tiny during lunch and says:
"Hey, I wanted to ask you, ‘cause I couldn’t help but notice that you are two tons of fun. Just curious – is it like a thyroid problem, or is it some deep seated self-esteem issue? ‘Cause, you know, they’re, uh they’re just doughnuts. They’re not love.”
This is revealing so much about Dean, because essentially he is talking about himself in a way. Not only does Dean have some deep seated self-esteem issues, which he would never openly admit to, but the part about ~comfort food says and explains a lot about Dean’s love for pie. He associates it with family, with home, with his mom and with that: love. We learn that in S5 in “Dark Side of the Moon”, when Mary asks Dean if he wants some pie after he comforted her, told her that John still loves her and that he loves her and that he’ll never leave her and she tells him that he’s her little angel (more on Mary and Dean here).
But there is more. While the first incident relates to Dean’s relationship with his mom, the next time Dean and Tiny talk, in my opinion (all of this is just my personal reading, I don’t claim to be right) John Winchester is brought into the mix when Tiny admits, he has some self-esteem issues and shares where they stem from.
Look at the dialogue:
Dean: "Hey, sorry about the things I was saying earlier. I can’t really tell you why, but I had to get you angry. So, uh… Anyway, sorry."
Tiny: "It’s okay. Truth is, I have low self-esteem issues. My old man treated me and my brother like crap, right up till the day he died.”
Not only does the seemingly tough guy Tiny - who Dean always tries to be as well - hide a soft core, but he also has a brother and owes some of the things he struggles with to the way he grew up and his father. In my opinion this absolutely alludes to the difficult yet close relationship Dean and Sam shared with their father, who in many ways is to ~blame for the things both Winchesters have problems with now.
So yeah, that’s all. This show… ;__;
A slow WIP. I’m having a real art block at the moment guys.
